Easy way to increase my honda civics performance?

Ok well im new to cars and modding and all that stuff. But ive recently become very interested. I have a 2007 honda civic sedan. I just got my windows tinted too give it more of a sleek look and I have thoughts about getting some nice rims. But for now I want to focus on the cars performance. Im not trying to turn it into a race car or anything I just think a few things could be tweaked or upgraded for me to have a better driving experience. My civic drives well for the most part but there are times when I need( or want) to step on the gas. My car doesn't respond the way I'd like it to and it makes an awful sound. No, there's nothing wrong with the car just the fact that its just a 4 cylinder and only 140 horses or what not. So I did some research and I came across cold air intakes. From what ive read it would seem like it would give me a little more punch and a nice whisper. But I wouldn't know for sure since Ive never seen one. If I were to buy one would it help my civic accelerate and give it a nicer sound, or would I not notice anything since my car isn't very powerful. And if a cold air intake isn't the answer, are there any other relatively inexpensive mods out there for what I'd like? Thanks for reading and thanks in advance for any answers.
