Earth Science Question about the Sun?

I'm helping my 11 year old with her homework and she's stuck on the question "What patterns do you observe in the Sun's angle of separation?".
Please can anyone explain this question- I have never even heard of the Sun's angle of separation. I'm assuming it may be something to do with Sunrise and set and solar noon?
 
I hadn't heard of this before either. In my search, I found a previous question and answer that might help. At least it gives me the idea that the questions may be referring to the Sun's position at these times and how that varies with the seasons.
