For the majority of minerals, the streak color obtained when the mineral is scratched against a porcelain plate is ___________________.

a.) less variable than the color in hand sample among crystals
b.) more variable than the color in hand sample among crystals
c.) (I don't think it's this one) - always dark brown or black
d.) (WRONG) - likely to be diagnostic only if the mineral is hard enough to scratch the porcelain.

I think it's either A.) or B.)... and if I had to pick one, I would chose A.)

I did an entire lab on minerals and their streak colors, but I still do not know the answer to this.

Can anyone confirm A.) ?
Thank you!
