I'm looking for a school where I could pursue my master's in Early childhood special ed but I noticed that the certification is limited to PreK-2. I also want to be able to work as an early intervention specialist and I did some research on the topic. I found that I had to go through the OHHS to become an early intervention educator.
I lived in NY and the process was pretty straightforward, so now I am worried that I made the wrong decision by moving to MA. The process is more complicated and I haven't been able to find a MEd program that would allow me to become a special ed techer AND an early intervention specialist. Therefore, I'm looking for people who already work as special ed teachers with children at the preschool level. I would like to know:
1- which school you would recommend for a recent grad with already too much student loans (within the Boston/Cambridge area)
2- some clarification regarding the Full Certification through the OHHS, in regards to the portfolio and if you can work as a special ed itinerant teacher while you build your portfolio
3- if you have obtained an Early Intervention certificate from Northeastern U (or another school) and a master's degree from another school, tell me if this really helped you in your early intervention career and if you still had to prepare a portfolio
3- Can I be a bilingual special ed teacher and how do I become licensed?
4- finally, I want to know if it is worth the time and money, i.e. if the prospects in Early Intervention in Massachusetts good.
