1. Art activities need to be confined to an area because of the mess! Art is a way for children to be able to express themselves, and that can get messy. I always set up an art easel closer to the sink so that messes can be cleaned up easier also. And forget about having a carpet under the easel. It is easier to be able to mop without one. Other areas need to be in a designated area as well. Blocks should be positioned near an area where other loud activities will occur, and a library area would need to be positioned closer to where activities that are not so loud can occur.
2. Program planning and evaluation work together because you are evaluating the children on what is being done in the program. Can you evaluate a child on alphabet letter recognition if it is not incorporated into program planning? I use the Creative Curriculum in my classroom and I evaluate the children based on what I have planned in the curriculum. I do social emotional assessment, cognitive, and health assessements.
I hope this helps.
