Early american history project help?

Does anyone have names of interesting famous people that were alive between 1500 and 1800? I'm more interested though in people that weren't the "typical" people that you would pick for a topic like this (Christopher Columbus etc.). Maybe something regarding famous slaves.

He didn't live between 1500-1800 but Raoul Wallenberg saved over 100,000 lives and almost everybody hasn't heard of him. no one else will make a project about him. Go for it. I did it on him and i got a 100!
