Eagle Eye

Robo action

Anyone seen this yet?

Directed by D.J. Caruso who directed Shia Labeouf in Disturbia a couple of years back, written by the same guys who wrote Transformers and executive produced by none other than Steven Spielberg!

I couldn't tell if this was a really good BAD movie, or a really bad GOOD movie! It was completely dumb and stupid at the same time as being completely entertaining, tense and action packed. I honestly don't know what to make of it.

Shia was great and suited the role, also enjoyed seeing Vic Mackey from the Shield, Rosario Dawson and Billy Bob Thornton who had the best lines! :D

The whole thing about it not being a real person on the phone to the main characters, just a super intelligent computer telling them what to do was completely and utterly ridiculous! And the fact it could control ANYTHING electonic or technical was just wtf???!!! Crazy! HAL for 2008? :D

Yeah I watched this last night and enjoyed it. As its is a film that you just switch your brain off and enjoy the action!
By the way avoid the review of Eagle Eye in total film as it spoils the whole film. They hated by the way and gave it 1 out of 5!

I completely loved it! It was super, good acting, plot was clever and everything worked really well together!

The action sequences in the cars were a slight let down, I would have liked the camera to pan out more to see the chaos , but obviously they were on a budget ;)

Everyone is going on about the crazy plot but I didn't spot that many flaws and only two really stick out when looking back (IMO).

- The "twin" is scanned and some how even though the computer knows its not the dead twin Ethan it still lets him give authority to cancel the lock down...

- The computer clearly has good control over all things electronic so if it wants to assassinate the chain of command why not go after them individually rather than using outside people to construct a bomb?

A computer that can think? Of course it could happen! Things like ECHELON supposedly exist so a super computer is almost a dead cert surely??

It reminded a bit of Die Hard 4.0 in the way
it showed our reliance on technology and computer systems
- I enjoyed it a lot though!

One slight criticism - some of the car chases were so fast it was a blur and you weren't quite sure what happened. Saying that though at least it was action all the way, unlike the abysmal 'Burn after reading' that I'd watched the day before!

Definitely 8/10

I thought it was enjoyably daft for the first 45 minutes...then too stupid to actually like.

The plot would have been fine if there'd be any indication that this was a science fiction film until the moment when the culprit was revealed. I was under the impression that I was watching a cyber-thriller, not 2001.

There was a minor clue in the first scene but it wasn't substantial enough to aid the audience.

With this irritating plot turn (which is frustratingly presented as a twist), the following became too much to overlook:

* Contrived plot with twins
* Billy Bob Thornton's shakey performance
* Someone firing a gun in view of the present AND NOT being killed instantly by the SS
* The computer resembling I.N.T.E.L.L.I.G.E.N.C.E from Team America.

Just got back from seeing this movie. I have to say, I really enjoyed it.

Yes, it was far fetched, but so are nearly all movies nowadays (Bond comes to mind, how he never dies, I'll never know!!)

Now, I'm a bit paranoid!! :o
