E71-2 ear piece speaker broken

I just picked up a used E71-2, and while I love the phone. I am pretty sure there is something wrong with the earpiece. When I am on a call, even with the volume at full level, it is very quiet, and hollow sounding. When I am using it on speaker phone it is fine, so only on regular calls, meaning it must be something wrong with the internal speaker.

Is this a normal problem area? I used to have an E71x and the volume was fine. I saw a couple posts here of people repairing the speaker themselves. I am fine to do this, but not sure what part I need to pick up. I am assuming if I send it to Nokia it will cost a pretty penny to replace what appears to be only about a $5 part.

Never knew it was that common a problem... haven't had any issues myself. Sounds like maybe the previous owner unloaded their problem onto unsuspecting you. Check out the link below

Thanks, I actually found a DIY to perform that I am going to try later that fixed it for some people. Other than that at least the speakers are cheap.

Do you happen to know where to get a service manual for the E71? or at least a DIY on taking it apart.
