E70-2 (US version) new SW update and firmware

OK, I just tried to do this but I'm having a problem.

First, I tried to do it and realized that I haven't updated to the latest version of PC Suite. I had version 8.0 and it says that the software updater doesn't work unless you have version 8.1 or higher.

Downloaded and installed 8.2 and restarted the PC.
Started the PC Suite software, connected the USB Cable and followed the instructions. The PC recognized the phone through the USB cable and it brought me to the main PC Suite menu. I ran the software updater and it keeps saying "Searching for a connected phone". It's been saying this for about 15 min. now.

Anyone else experience this problem?
 
I had a similar issue. I tried a couple more times and it eventually found my phone, then it stalled halfway through the install. It bricked my phone. The kind folks at the Nokia store replaced it and told me to wait until they got the firmware upgrade in the store. I finally got it done yesterday and I'm much happier with it. Still a little slow when flipping open/closed, but it doesn't run out of memory as much when you use the built in browser.

If you are near a Nokia center, have them do it if you have had any kind of issues. It's not worth bricking your phone, even if you usually know what you are doing.

As for AOL IM, I've been using JonnyChat. Do a search to find it. It's been working wonderfully. It works over WiFi and it's free.
 
OK, I took my USB cable to work today and downloaded the newest version of PC Suite and the Software Updater and it worked.

Maybe it's my Norton at home.
