Not at all. The phones that have the 2100MHz band, use it in conjunction with 1900 for uplink and downlink (I can't remember which is which)

That's not the case either, as T-Mobile has picked SE and Nokia for their future 3G handsets, from what I've read. I've seen a couple articles saying that T-Mobile+Nokia is how Nokia is going to be able to support UMTS in the US, but, I've stated my peace on this issue several, several times.
