E65 special keys stop working

I'm wondering if anyone else has ran into this problem. The four special keys on the top of the phone (conference, own key, contacts, and mute) stops working after a random amount of time. If I restart they phone they work fine, but after a while nothing happens when I press them. All other keys work as expected, and I can't seem to figure out what's causing this. Anyone else?

I have the same, but it is alo desribed in the JP review.... Buggy... What do you mean by a hard reset Rapolu? Is that return to factory settings? and if so? how do I find out the settings to do that? I never got any settings?

Is there a way one can do a clean reinstall, I mean get it back in the condion out of the box, also remove all the data and programs?

Hard reset supposedly doesn't work on the E65. Apparently another bug.

I read the JP review too, but from the way he worded it, it sounded like the buttons sometimes don't work or needs more than one press to register. But for me the buttons stop working completely until I reboot.

wonder how long it takes for a firmware shows up... oh and by the way fric, here is a free working Isync plug in http://www.s60themes.co.uk/

It happens to me sometimes, but when that happens i just restart my phone and it works again. No biggie i guess, just hope that it won't be permanent >< *touch wood*

I would suggest that you stop using Igor Dotsonov Alarm manager or any other Alarm Manager which makes this bug, the only one working without disabling the "Media Keys" is Handy Alarm version 1.01
BTW this is OS9.1 fault, not only E65 is affected, also other OS9.1 phones

best regards

I never have to reset or reboot to get them working again. Sometimes, just opening the menu will "reactivate" them. It's random.

I am indeed using Alarm Manager, and from the Smartbian website:

# Multimedia key stops working sometimes. What's the problem?

This is a known issue and I believe it's a firmware bug. Multimedia key stops working after recurring alarm goes off.

Unfortunately, to this moment I don't know any good workaround. You can reboot the phone to make multimedia key work. Alternatively, you can use "Fix media key" command from Alarm Manager menu. This command is hidden by default. To make it available in the menu, rename the file c:\system\apps\alarmManager\EnableFixMediaKey.fl_ to EnableFixMediaKey.flg.

Calendar's alarm is separate from Clock's alarm, and I think this only affects third party programs. I went back to using Clock for my alarms eventhough I have to set it daily, it beats not having the media keys which I really like. (The fix media key command on Alarm Manager doesn't always work.)

I had this problem too, and I'm using Handy Clock. Not only were the special keys not working, but the standby applications on the home screen was also not working. I initially installed the software in the MicroSD. I shifted all the softwares to the Phone Memory and I have not had any problems since.

The problem is definitely related to third-party alarm software. I also have the same problem with Handy Clock, either installed to the phone memory or to memory card. But even without third-party alarm software installed, once in a while the media keys still stop working for me, which a quick reboot would fix. I would still reboot once in a while to fix general problems...
