[E62] Video - I want the best

I've wasted more time than I care to admit messing about trying to get the best possible video settings on my E62.

I;ve finally hit on great settings with Super using Xvid, played in Pocket DivX player, that give great video picture, great sound, but crap synchronisation between the two.

I've not yet found a 3gp setting that give anything but poor video quality *if I want the video to actually play* alongside the sound.

Seems the E62 is somehow crippled compared to the E61, so getting great video is tough.

Anyone found sweet settings using Super for great pictures, good sound, and actual synchronisation of the two? Or found a pairing of conversion tool and player that produce nice synced video on the E62?

Yeah but it's the same player as the FREE mobile DivX player. I spent hours with SmartMovie, and with DivX player, and with SUper and several other tools. Anything that ends up with decent video has had sound synch issues.

I'd really appreciate comment from someone who actually has an E62 and who has actually achieved a nice compromise on sound and video quality whilst retaining synched audio. There's only so much time I can devote to constantly fine-tuning settings in the hope that I'll eventually hit on the right settings - CODEC, format, audio and video compression and bitrate, sound format etc - and player.

Unfortunately, telling me what is great on a different phone is not helpful. I have tried many settings posted by others for many different phones, including the E61. Logic says that settings that work for great video on the E61 should work on the E62, right? Well unfortunately no. It seems that in building the E62, something was changed that makes the E62 slower all-round, and less capable as a video player.

Hence my request specifically for information from other E62 owners.

Hope this is clear.

Hi Bollox, I hate to sound like a broken record but I use SmartMovie on my E62 and it works great. I have encoded tons of stuff using SmartMovie and the "E62" video preset settings in SmartMovie. If something was out of sync it was usually like 30 or 40 milliseconds and that was easily adjusted in SmartMovie player. Unfortunately Mobile Divx player doesn't let you adjust the sync between video and audio. Mobile Divx and SmartMovie are "ALOT" alike but that audio/video sync adjustment was worth the $$$ to me. I get 320x240 video at the highest E62 preset setting possible (gives best quality) in SmartMovie and it looks absolutely awesome on the E62 (mine is Cingular branded too). I have sinced used SmartMovie on my E50 and now my new E65.

HF Fiend - thanks for your reply.

Interesting. I really appreciate hearing this from a real live E62 owner!

My concern about SmartMovie is caused by the fact that when I tested the trial version I could not get satisfactory videos. I have no way of knowing just why that is. Your assurance that you get good results with the full version is heartening.

As for the video *player* that is provided with SmartMovie, it is clearly the mobile DivX player with a different skin. The layout and the menu options are the same in the two players - even the sample movies are the same!

Do you, by some chance, have a sample video you can share? It doesn't have to be a full movie or anything! I realy want to be able to see fine video working on this phone before I spend any more time and effort on this.

By the way, what version of the converter are you using? I just checked out the trial download again - version 3.32. It has settings for E61, but there are no settings for E62 :-(
