E62 main screen

On the main screen of the E62, it has a row of icons for messages, calender, notes, MediaNet (cingular), www, my stuff and text messages.

How can I change what programs are on the main screen? If I hit menu and go to all the folders, I know how to move apps around, etc. But how can I put them on my main screen.

For example, I want to move Opera and Agile Messenger to my main screen.

Thanks

First off, congratulations for posting in the correct forum. You're already a few steps ahead of most noobs.

Secondly, to change the apps (which, btw, (as you'll see) they don't always have to be an app, could be an action or bookmark) you go to tools - settings - phone - standby, and scroll down to "change active standby apps" you're then presented with a list of damn near everyhting in the phone.

Thanks, I found it in a little different place on my E62, but your directions got me there. I found it in "config/settings/phone/idle screen mode."

I have a couple websites bookmarked for the Nokia E62, but seems like it does so much. I couldn't find even this simple task! Are there any recommended user sites that have information like this?

1. the manual
2. just play with it. unlike wm5, the system files are hidden, so its pretty idiot proof. just play around a bit.
3. feel free to ask around in here, just PLEASE browse the front page of the s60 forum and do a search before posting.
4. www.e-series.org is a GREAT starting place, also.

Thanks again. I've been a member on Howard Forums for a couple years, but haven't posted alot. I do use the search feature and probably why I don't have a ton of more questions. But I beg to differ on the phone's manual. It is very sparse and short. However, I did find the E62 has great help screens in it, however you have to know the area to look then hit "help."

Maybe I'm confusing the E61's manual for the E62's. Certainly the E61's was enough to at least give you ideas of what to search for. Perhaps the E62's isn't so detailed.

My manual is 36 pages. Pages 15-32 is just on the various email solutions. It mainly refers to the on-device tutorial and help which is VERY helpful. But you just have to know where to look. I did not know the main screen was called "idle screen mode." Had I known that, the on device tutorial explained how to do it.

I hate it when Cingular cheaps out like that. They also didn't include the adapter that lets you use old style Nokia chargers on the new phones. The sucky part is that I lost the one that came with my E61, so I can't use my car charger with my E62.

Not sure which one you got but mine has 93 pages and has more info that I can handle. Check it out here: http://www.nokiausa.com/support/phones/guides/1,7840,E62,00.html
