E61 Firmware Upgrade -Battery Drainage!

you got nothing to loose trying it, however i call it urban legend... think of your battery as a plastic container, if that plastic container can store 1 gal of water, it does not matter how you filled it with water, say you filled it directly from the tap, or you filled it by pouring a glass of water one at a time, it will only store 1 gal of water and that same gallon is what you are going to take out from...

Its good to know im not the only one out there *phew*. Its a bit worrisome when you see 5 bars drop to 3 or 2..but thank goodness the battery lasts FOREVER. However, it still doesn't put my mind at rest. I hope nokia adresses this problem, hopefully its a FW problem, not a HW...It's so far the only gripe i have with this phone...that and connecting to the internet...*sigh*

I had the same problem with 2.xxxxx firmware, I just upgraded to 3.xxx firmware and now I get about 4 hours battery life.. yes 4. What the hell?! each F%$#ing firmware upgrade fixes something then screws something else up. Yeah its nice that it doesnt freeze and is a bit faster through the menus but none of that matters if the car you borrowed breaks down on the NJ turnpike when its 10 degrees outside and your f%$#ing phone is dead (that you charged that night), good thing my lady-friend's BB 7100t gets over a week of battery life and she was with me.

Seriously though, Nokia I'm a huge fan of yours, stop screwing up. WRITE A DECENT FIRMWARE FOR THE E61 that the battery life and battery life meter are actually close to the same amount.

more than 1/2 the time that it dies (by that i mean goes from full bars to "battery drained - shutting down" in a 5 min call) I can take out the battery leave it out for 5 min, put it back in and I'm good to go for at least another 2 hours (even though itll say "battery low" for those entire 2 hours)

For what it's worth, my battery problem was solved by doing a cold-reset on the unit, and re-installing everything manually. I did not do a restore, which I had done in the last round. (When my battery was lasting about six hours.)

My battery now goes for a couple of days, with the Mail for Exchange on for 12 hours.

This might seem a little daft, but any of you fiddled with the screen brightness settings or the back light time out?

After I brought my phone up to date firmware-wise, I noticed awful battery life as well.

I fiddled around with the aforementioned settings and the battery life is as it was before the update.

Hope this helps.
