E61 Firmware Upgrade -Battery Drainage!

Help! One of the main reasons why I love my E61 is the long battery life. That is since I upgraded to the new firmware, I believe. Before, I would get about three days of heavy use, now I make it barely through a day!
Phone network is set to 'GSM' only, Active Standby applications are World Mate, Mail for Exchange, WiFi scan set to the lowest setting.
I do have an Screen Saver which is elaborate in pixels, could this be the culprit? Even if I do not use the unit, leave it on and do nothing, the battery drains in no time. I have gone out to Cingular to buy another (wow, $ 52.00 +Tax) and used that one, same problem.
somewhere in my settings something is draining the battery or is it the new firmware? Please help as I am off to an around the world trip, thanks

Well, I have a Nokia E61 with the old firmware (from April, haven't gotten a PC with Windows XP to update it on yet, I have Vista) and it drains within 2 days, which is still below what other people report. I'm hoping it doesn't get WORSE if I update mine too now...

Several things might have contributed to this loss: I have added Truphone into the settings and now deleted it. WorldMate Calendar is running. I really cannot make it through ONE DAY with either the old or the new battery. Is there anyone else after the firmware update with a similar issue?
Also, what else can contribute to battery usage, I have turned the BT off, the screen light lower.....what am I missing out on?

Mine used to be fine...and then all of a sudden today, the phone shut off in my pocket. I turned it back on and it prompted for a PIN, which i never has, then i find out it was low on battery. I just updated mine like 2-3 days ago. This is super weird...

I had the exact same problem w/ battery drain. Then i removed the screen saver program. works like a charm. battery lasts over a day now. A lot better than the 10 hour time it was before. The screen saver program was great, but come on, i couldn't even use it for a full day.

Are you saying that your customized screen saver ate away the power? Or is that a program? Yes, I do have a high resolution picture of a Lion in the Desert as a background, could this be the issue?
If you are correct, MoFlava, hats down, Thank You

Weird...I have had NO problems with my E61 for MANY months..and all of a sudden today, my battery plummetted from 5 bars to 2..I've never seen that happen....I'm on the latest firmware and I don't run anything at all in the background or on standby...nothing ....
mmmm

I removed the screed saver and it did not help. What on earth is draining the battery empty? I bought a new one at a grand price and still no change...

well, I have 3g off, i don't use BT at all, I thought that the problem was wifi (also I used it ~15 min per day not more) but now I've stopped to use wifi to see if there is a difference and it is still the same, I HAVE to charge it every night

Ok, I took a flight out of LAX with a freshly charged battery, sent a couple of emails from the airport, nothing fancy, in the plane, I turned the entire unit OFF. Upon arrival in Europe, the unit was turned on and good for ONE MORE hour. I popped in the second charged battery, it was good for 4 hours and it is totally EMPTY.
WiFi off, BT off, UMTS off, screen saver dumped. What else am I missing out on?

Another thing that happen to me with with another phone was I used a charger with less Amps. I usually used one charger with all the similar phone. I use one USB charger for all phone that can charge by USB connection. I recently found out that I used a less amps charger to charge my HP6955. Even the voltage is the same but the power will be different. I used a 2 amps charger and charged the HP overnight. It only last for 3-4 hours. I change it back to a 3amps charger and it last for a day. It might not be your case but you can double check. My E61 usually will last for almost 2 days.

I always have bluetooth running as I use the phone in the car a lot, wifi sniffer on, e mails pulled every 30 minutes (probably 30 e mails a day) and I use the phone pretty heavily to surf the net on wifi in the evenings. I usually charge every night but I can get a day and half without a charge. I updated the firmware within a week of getting the phone and didn't notice any real difference in battery life. I think there is something wrong with you phone.

This is still way better than the battery life I was getting in a Motorola V551 with bluetooth running. Couldn't get a full day out of that phone. Sometimes only 5 or 6 hours.

I think that the poster regarding the charger has a good point. I am using an aftermarket, small rapid charger all the time. The idea to give the traditional Nokia brand charger a try is an excellent idea and shall post the results in a day (opefully two!)

Is anyone still experiencing a fault battery indicator? ie, 5 bars...but then you reboot the phone and it shows up as 2? I updated my FW to 2.0618.06.05 and there still seems to be that problem. Spanish keyboard (Euro Edition), if that makes any difference?

I noticed this once at work, but, this was after not charging it for 36 hours. Used the phone all day the previous day, calls, BT, web and didn't charge it that night as I needed to use it as an alarm clock and no power outlet to charge where I was sleeping. Next moring, still had 4 bars which kind of impressed me. Later on that 2nd day I was having a problem with my email account (Good) and I turned the device off/on. Upon booting, it dropped to 1 bar. I was like WTF! Great, I"m at work with no charger. Thing is, it lasted the rest of the day long into the evening on 1 bar. So, not sure what the probem is/was but even though the battery bar dropped it didn't seem to make a difference.

This like I said has only occured once since upgrading to 2.06******
