Send it to iunlock.com for a small fee. Very reputable vendor with a great reputation here on hofo in particlular. Search around the forums for reviews. Other than a Nokia Service Center this is your only real alternative if doing it yourself isnt a viable option.
BTW...didnt realize the updater sucked up that many system resources..
of course i've got 2gigs in my laptop so I didnt really notice.
