This has been posted in the massive E50 thread but most of the topics are regarding the 1.3mp version of the E50 (RM 170) They update for that phone has been out for a while and now finally the RM 171 version has been added. Initial fixes I've noticed while running the new version for the past 2 days.....
1. Obviously the number 1 fix was the nasty "popping" noise that plagues some of the newer v3's
2. Noticeably faster menu UI and opening and closing certain apps. Contacts, messages, etc. ....basic built in apps I would say are the ones with the most difference.
3. No more sporadic icon flashing. While switching themes the active standby would begin to flash as the theme was trying to convert. With the old FW the active standby icons would continue to flicker after the theme had been fully loaded and this eventually moved on to the main menu. Powering off the phone was the only remedy for this and it was quite annoying.
unlike the E61's FW update there was no change in the sharpness of the fonts although the E50s small screen makes them pretty sharp already. I'm sure there are more things like better RAM usage but these 3 items (at least 1 and 3) were necessary fixes.
