dysphagia and dialated bile duct

I have had problems with food getting stuck while eating (not drinking) for the past 5 years. My mother and grandmother both had it. My mother died of esophagal? cancer. What causes this? Also I am seeing a gastroenterologist for a dialated bile duct. What exactly is that and how is it treated?
