Dying hair medium or dark ash blonde?

I am naturally a dark ash blonde, and I've been getting highlights for years. I recently dyed it more blonde with a drugstore brand, and it turned out a warm blonde with a reddish cast. I didn't mind it, but now my roots are growing out and I want to go back to my natural colour (or a bit darker) for the fall.

Will a level 7 dark ash blonde do the trick? I want to neutralize the red when I dye it. I have long hair (hits my bra-line more or less), will I need one bottle or two? I will be going for my usual highlights in December before a vacation, I just need something to hold me over until then. Thank you!
 
Dont get any dye with the word 'golden' in it, that will give you the red hues, the one you mentioned should do the trick. 2 bottles will probably be best, my hair isnt quite that long and I think I will have to go to 2 bottles; 1 is kinda pushing it!
