DVD+R vs. DVD-R for Xbox 360 Media Playback?

Okay, so I'm wanting to burn .avi format movies onto blank DVDs (as a data disc) so I can play them in my Xbox 360 using the optional media playback feature.

I'm not sure whether to use DVD+R or DVD-R.

I have used DVD+R before now, and they always worked perfectly.

However, I recently got some DVD-Rs and I burned a few movie files on it (about 5) on the same burn speed, and it lagged horribly when I tried to play them back.

I only usually burned 1-2 video files on my DVD+Rs when I did it, but they always worked.

Is there a problem with the DVD-Rs, or is it just the video file?

(BTW, the video file played perfectly on my computer, which isn't a very good computer either)
