I'm curious of what, if any, differences there are between enlisted MPs in the USMC and the Army. I know others have asked the same question, but I haven't seen any satisfactory answers. I'm also curious as to what differences there are between officers in the MP field of either branch. Originally, I wasn't considering any branch besides the Marine Corps, but that was until I learned about 'field contracts'.
Assuming I get a 58xx contract in the USMC, E2 (bach degree), and manage to get 5811, am I going to be sitting around guarding a wall for a year before I get a patrol car?
If I get E4 (bach degree) MP Army, am I -- by rank alone or otherwise -- more likely to get 'better' duties as an MP?
I am looking to a career in the FBI, and am curious as to which one of these paths would be better in the long run. If there really isn't that big of a difference outside of the E2 vs E4, I'll probably go USMC.
I'm going in enlisted first, regardless of branch, and officer later if my packet is accepted.
