I recently found out I have a dust allergy. It was a class 2, but I've noticed that in my apartment I have a hard time breathing and my sinuses are always inflammed. Problem is I can't afford to move and since it's an apartment, I'm stuck with carpet. I have a bagless vacuum with a hepa filter, but was thinking about getting an air filter. I'm hoping insurance will cover it if I get a px from my doctor since the good ones are several hundred dollars. I don't need anything huge. My apt is only 700sq ft.

I also just purchased an upholstered sofa last month only to find out they're not good for dust allergies, but again, stuck since it's not even paid for yet. Any suggestions? I've read about allergy pillow cases and mattress covers.

I do not think insurance will cover an air filter, but my HEPA was only about $150. Definitely look into cover for your mattress, that'll keep down the dust mites, and wash your bedding in hot water each week.

Also, just generally try to reduce clutter to keep down the dust.
