...Marxist-Leninist approach to communism? Between 1949 - 58 Mao attempted to lead china in a traditional communist fashion (ie not Maoism). He is said to have taken inspiration from the USSR, but did he mimic Stalin's system (which basically wasn't communism) or more what the USSR claimed to be and what they symbolised (ie. as it was under Lenin).
