Duplicate Memos/Notes when Synching

Whenever I synch my T3 with Outlook 2002, I get duplicate Notes/Memos. The log indicates "duplicate memo" but the documents are identical and should not be considered different. Why can this be? I am using the Palm supplied conduits for Outlook 2002 and have everything set to Synchronize.

Each time I hot synch, additional copies of the Palm Memos is added to the Outlook Notes folder.

Hi Daniell ? Heather from palmOne writing. I am not sure what is causing your duplicate memos but there?s information about dealing with the problem at the following link.

Then search by Solution ID: 26038
How to remove duplicate entries in Microsoft Outlook

Also, I know you said you were using Palm supplied conduits, but you might want to check out the following to see if it gives you any additional information.

Hope this was helpful.

Heather:

I've used the methods you talk about to correct the problem but the REAL problem is that it keeps recurring and I don't want to have to waste my time cleaning up my Memos/Notes folder every other day.

Before the T3, I never had these problems Synching my Palm Vx device to Outlook. Isn't the Palm Synching software suppossed to see that both the Palm MEMO and the Outlook NOTE contain the identical text?

What is the cause of the problem and how do I correct it?

Dan

Is it possible that the Notes conduit got duplicated somehow. Take a look a the hot sync settings and confirm that there are not two versions of the conduit for Notes. The other suggestion is to see if there are two Notes databases or backup's in the palm folder for that user name.

Good old Windows stuff sneaking into the mix is my WAG but since I don't have the same issue I'm only able to WAG.

I only have a single conduit to the Notes section of Outlook and don't have any duplicate databases.

It would appear that the Palm software instead of synching is just making duplicate records, especially if I edit a record in either the Palm or the Outlook database. Instead of "synching" with the most recent record, it just copies the files into both places. What a waste of time. My next portable device will most likely not be a Palm product. (On my 4th unit in less than a year. Screens go "white" or buttons stop working.)
