dumpster diving on a bike?

i recently started dumpster diving and i want to know how i can attach the stuff i find to my bike. it doesn't have a rack or a basket. its specialized that my parents bought as a surprise (i didn't pick it out) so i feel its too nice to put a basket on, what can i do besides carry a bigger backpack?

hook your finds to the handle bars. or buy equal sized duffel bags to hook on each handle bar so it's balanced. or maybe you'll come across a wagon or something you can hook to the back of your bike.
