Ducati Sucks Ass

I have owned some 30 bikes or so over the years. And most of them Jap sport bikes. I have also owned 6 Ducatis. I have done this dance back and forth several times always wishing I had another Ducati when I didn't. I now own two Ducatis and still once and a while ask my girlfriend if I can take her Gixxer out. The Ducati moves the soul like no Jap bike can. But I still enjoy riding them all. Now someone talk me out of that new Aprilia V4!!

I luv my Duc. I haven't had any problems except for the sprocket recall and having to buy new tires. Why can't the Italians make tires that last forever?

On another note, anyone hear why Ben Spies went WSBK instead of MotoGP? Seems like a big loss for Suzuki.

from what i guess... Spies was looking for motogp options for the future...

not only was yamaha happy to consider this idea... Spies knows the new R-1 will be competitive right away in WSBK... (did ya see the Valencia times?)... and the M-1 is looking a hell of a lot better than suzuki's motogp bike
timeline?...
'09... spies finishes top 3 if not winning WSBK..
'10... spies finally wins WSBK title... or if that occurs in '09... me moves to become Rossi's new teammate in MotoGP..... worst case...if Rossi stays for motogp in '11... Spies will be his team mate... or yamaha may be lining Spies up to be Rossi's possible replacement....

Agree. To have more stability over peak power. That is why for all the auto manufatures using racing as database on their production vehicles. Of couse not all the technology will be use because of cost.

Expensive parts, more maintenance, bad electricity, nonreliable engine and other components, blah blah blah...these are NOT correct in the long run if you know where to buy your part from and where and when to do your Duc's service. Only thing is the Duc is more expensive initially but hey that is also no issue in the long run. How often you see a 12 year old Jap bike change hands in the market? MOST of them if not all are disposable, we are shaving with those bikes now. And...what is the price of owning the BEST motorcycle that has ever been built on earth??? (subjective but I am one of those lucky campers thank God)

there's a perfectly good GSRXZYDW1 for you out there then...make sure you get one with lots of neon and maybe a custom, homo-erotic paint motif of vikings in loin clothes. And, don't forget to polish your wheels!

Now, don't let the door hit you in the ass on the way out, eh? On second thought...do

Spoken like a true idiot. I've owned several Ducatis and have had only a few problems. I've also owned Jap bikes which have had their share of problems as well.

Ducs are fine rides and absolutely dependable. ALL marques have their share of hiccups. Regardless, in every situation you simply need to take care (read: properly maintain) your ride.

To answer freghttrain's question, I can't afford to keep the 848 and buy the Aprilia or else it would be a no brainer. And the girlfriend won't let me get rid of the monster. We both have money invested in it and she rides it alot. As far as the general topic goes. Alot of the guys I ride with don't get owning a Ducati. It's all about the fastest quarter mile time for the least $. I've owned and enjoyed both but there is a sence of pride understanding that a Ducati isn't about bang for the buck. It's like that car add that askes when you turn your car on does it return the favor? And besides, when was the last time someone showed up with a ten year old Jap bike that could still draw a crowd?
