I own a gorgeous white 848 and couldnt be happier with it. Im so happy with it that im really kinda scketchy about taking it to some track-days, seeing how im in the Marines and dont have the funding to fix anything if it were to go down....

But what I want to know is, whats a good older ducati with similiar feeling that would be 'somewhat' more affordable to start taking to the track? The reason i say somewhat similiar feeling is that I also own a kawasaki ninja 636 that i was going to race, but the feeling is completely different than the 848. I dont want to feel uncomfortable when i switch bikes. Everytime i get on the ninja its like im on a completely new bike to me. So the one time a month or so that im not on the 848, i dont want to waste time getting used to it on the track.

Let me know what you all think....im leaning towards a 749/999???

thanks in advance

archer...I know where you are coming from mate...Im in the exact same situation...tossing up to track my 848 or to buy a second bike ( 600cc )....Im thinking to take the 848 to the track but just take it alot easier.....track it for fun not race

I don't see increased wear and tear. It's still just riding. Higher rpm, but nothing the bike isn't designed for. And the only extra maintenance is tires.

im really not looking for a 'cheap ducati'...we all know those dont exist.. but im looking for a good older duc that would be similiar feel to the 848...but cheaper than the 848..
