Ducati problems

I hate to say this but ducati is nothing but junk. Just found out that my value guides went out on my 2006 Ducati SS DS at 16,000 My Dads bike did the same thing at 14,000. His also lost a ecu and gauge cluster. Mine also lost the gauge cluster. Oh and all bike have been all taken care of and never raced what the crap. Look it up this has been a huge problem with all 2v motors. No recall some have done it at 5,000. Paid 15,000 for mine. Nothing but junk sorry.

Hold on there dude.
There was a rash of the 2/3 valvers a few years ago that had a lot of bad valve guides. I trust you have had the dealer look into it as it applies to Duc popping for the fix.

But mine had the new value guides installed in it had the updated part. Also my friend had the same bike with the same problems gauge cluster/ value guides also 2006 1000 ss ds a find that is been all over the board when these bikes get some miles on them. Some have been going out at 1,500. I wonder if the new hypermotods will have the same problem i think so be on the out for this tell your ducati dealer to check this there needs to be a recall. Four in my area alone . Seen it in 2000 to 2007 ducati motor we will see about the newer ones when they put some mile on them but get ready i have a feeling about this one.

Strange, I got just shy of 50 thousand on my 750 SS and it wasn't the valves that went (friend riding it into a rock cut mostly) and I met a guy at the Port Dover Rally with a 2006 1000 Super Sport that had 70 thousand trouble free klicks on his. I'm wondering if maybe you've got an incompetent service guy in your area, seems to be pretty localized.

I have to agree with Rap. We all know of many people with mega mileage on their 2V ducs. Occasionally the 80-90,000 mile bikes pop up.

Yes they had a stupid dimension or material problem in the time frame of yours. In defense of you, I have a reeeeal hard time understanding how and why any manufacturer could/can, and will fuck up something that has been in production for umpteen years.

Not to get into an engineering dissertation here yet having been in several Duc engines, my attitude is to simply fix it with iron guides containing a high nickel content.
I haven't been in a 2v as late as yours and am unsure of the guide composition. Don't quote me but I thunk these bikes had the brass or phosphor bronze guides. Manufacturers that use and tout bronze guides are living in the 1940's. Honda proved that in the '60's as their guides will almost live as long as the vehicle.
