Ducati monster help and advice?

I'm hoping to save enough up this summer to get a bike. The problems. I've never ridden a bike before so I would be a noobie, and the bike I want is a ducati monster. I want to get a modern ducati monster but with the least amount of power available. I just want the monster because of the way it looks and could care less about performance, I'll just be using it to commute which is another thing. With a more modern ducati is it better to sustain because I heard ducatis are known for unreliability.
 
There are plenty of better bikes out there that fit your needs. As a first bike, the ducati is just too expensive to buy and maintain. You probably will drop your first bike, so whats the point of buying it for looks if it may get banged up anyhow. Get something more practical and then move up to something like the ducati so you dont have to worry about these things.
