I have a 5 year old Ducati M400 with only about 7000km driven. Recently, whenever the weather is hot and/or I drive for an extended period of time the following happens (excuse me if I am not being very technical but I have no idea what words to use to describe it), the engine temperature on the display goes up to about 90-100c on a hot day:
- Even while driving at higher speeds (60mph) I can hear the power sort of drop down as if I had let go of the accelerator and then come back up, even though I am holding the accelerator steady and have made sure I did not touch the clutch.
- When I stop at a red light, while idling, I can also hear the power sort of drop down ever so often and if I do try to put the bike into 1st gear and take off during one of these lulls then I can hear the engine revving as if its a normal acceleration but the bike takes a few seconds to actually move - even though I have released the clutch.
I have replaced the battery completely and taken it to a local shop but they couldn't figure it out and didn't charge me anything. I live in Japan so taking it somewhere specialized is somewhat impossible and I would love to fix it myself.
I would really appreciate some guidance, even if someone can just tell me in which direction to point the guys at the shop in order to fix this problem as I feel I cant go driving very far for fear of the engine stopping.
