I don't know where you've been looking, but new ones can be had for under $30k in A LOT of places.
Simply proving the aforementioned statement. There's also a dealer in San Francisco letting them go cheap, if memory serves me correct.
And as far as the multi goes...uhh...no. Old Multi was not attractive, either. For some reason, however, I'd ride one. It's like it's so ugly it's kind of cool. I hear they're only built for peeps with a pretty tall inseam, though. At 5'8" it might not be for me.

Ducati released a statement on the North America part of the site with regards to the show. They mentioned all of the models that have been talked about, except the 848 DARK. So is that just a rumor?
