Ducati exhaust pricing

chilling

It seems that regardless of the make of after market exhaust, if its for a Ducati it is quite literally double the price of the same brand of exhaust for another motorcycle.

Can anyone tell me a good reason why it is so much more expensive to make an exhaust for a Ducati rather than say a honda or suzuki etc?

Is there a good reason, or are be just being ripped off because we bought expensive bikes in the first place?

I'm not adverse to paying for quality (obviously...I bought a Ducati in the first place..) but I just don't see how an exhaust to fit a Ducati is that much more difficult to make than an exhaust to fit any other bike.

i think its due to the bike having duel cans.. then again so do many others.
prob ducati charges them more for licensing
thats my uneducated guess

Only Termi's come with an ECU

Other brands like zard, arrow etc don't include an ECU and have the same pricing scheme.

For example:
Zard slip ons for an 848 are approx US$1176 while Zard for an R6 are US$400, akras for a gsxr1000 are US$690 etc etc

The answer is simple.
#1...less Ducati systems made,so unit cost is higher.
(put 1098/1198/848 together and it would still be nowhere near the volume of an R1 for example)
#2...Market segment. If the bike costs more then the big aftermarket suppliers figure the owners have the ability to pay more.Own a Ducati 1098 and you are in another (less price sensative)market segment to an R1 owner.
