ducati 748s vs yamaha r1?

I want to upgrade my 97 ZX7R i would love to buy a 02 ducati 748 but comen sence tells me to buy a 06 R1 for the same amount of money. What would you buy and why ?
 
Why a 748?? A Duck is a great bike, but the 748 is a little wacked money-wise. If I was considering a Duck, I'd go with an 800 or 1000 Monster, but that's just me. Of the two, the R1.
 
R1 is way better, it feels like a bike. Agile and one of the fastest accelerating bikes and everything around 1000cc can't compare. Ducati just looks expensive but are not worth the money, they're not fun.
Depends on your personality really, R1 = cool, dangerous + fun.
Ducati = stylish.
