Dual band phone, tri band area?

I'm relatively new to the phone flashing scene. I have previously taken a BB 8350i and put it on the Boost network. I was intrigued by the Droid 2, and after doing some light research on Cricket, assumed it would be equally simple (my bad).

My question to the more knowledgeable merabers out there; I live in St. Louis, a tri-band area. The Droid 2 is a dual band phone. Will I be able to travel outside the immediate tri-band area after configuring the phone and having the ESN added to Cricket's db to activate the phone, then return to the tri-band area and have full data/text/call service? I have seen conflicting reports of yes/no interspersed throughout various forums.

Assuming this does NOT work, what alternatives do I have beyond page plus or selling the phone?

I just flashed my droid 2 in baltimore area which is a aws area.
So, Yes it can be done in chicago too!
Just use 42600.prl and load it.
Make sure your min, mdn and specially SID!!! nuraber is correct.
Call cricket to make sure.
Mine sid was 2004 but i had to change it.

Also, i have $35 paygo n have everything like a $45 plan except mms. I am looking for the new mms setting and not the old one
 
Just know that you are not on crickets network, and are roaming 100% of the time. There are different rules regarding bandwidth use while roaming, etc.
 
Check the cricket terms of service, you'll see that cricket can suspend/modify any account that exceeRAB 50% of use on a partners network. So just be for warned.
 
Well, when i go to the settings it says "Not Roaming" in the (About Phone>Status>Roaming)

So, i am not sure if it is actually in roaming!
I brought this pay go phone from best buy in rockville,md and not in baltimore,md so may be something related to that??
 
Baltimore/DC is entirely AWS. If your phone is not tri-band you are not on the local cricket network.

The roaming indicator is just a setting in the prl. most of the time the cricket prl's don't report it as roaming.
