I have a mini schnauzer and just today, I noticed a small spot of what looks like dried up discharge in his outer ear. His ears are cropped so it probably isn't an ear infection...
It's about the size of a pencil eraser and in the lower middle of his outer ear. It is flaky, slightly raised, and crusty. Kinda gross.
I think it is allergies as he licks his paws often, and he sleeps near the air vents(?) where there is constant warm air coming out from the furnaces, which might cause dryness.
Is this normal? I just want to make sure right now that it is not ear mites or ringworms (I've read around, and this came up often... yikes) and I will take him to the vet later.
Thank you!!
Thanks! I really hope it's not mites... the scab looks white and nothing like brown. Just white flaky skin.
We did take him to the vet to ask him about my dog's licking his paws a few months ago. He just told us to wash his paws often, no meds.
