dry cough

I just found out I have asthma. I have been having difficulty catching my breath, but no wheezing, just a dry cough, sort of like a tickle in my throat. I was given an inhaler to use if necessary. It sounRAB durab, but when do you know when you really need it. This cough is annoying, not a hard constant cough, but there, and now my back is hurting. I appreciate any help. Thanks
 
Yep, a sign that the asthma is not under control yet. You could try a puff of albuterol and see if it helps.
