Drug allergy rash

A couple of days ago I developed a horrid rash on my arms, legs and stomach. I used Benadryl and Hydrocortizone but it did not help. Today I went to the Derm who said it was an allergic reaction, prob. to the Naproxin I started taking a week ago for a shoulder problem. He gave me a script for Prednisone and I took it about 4 hours ago. Now my rash/itch is spreading to my hanRAB and feet. It is so itchy. I took another Benadryl it's not helping. I stopped with the Naproxin yesterday am, so why is this rash still developing? Does it have a run a full course through my body? Why doesn't it just stop?

Drug allergies can take quite a while to go away. I suggest zyrtec instead of the benedryl. Its typically better for hives. Also, it will take a good 3-4 days before the steroiRAB will start working. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks - I forgot to mention I have been on Zyrtec for years for regular allergies, so I have been taking that as well.

The rash I got was not hives. They were itchy pimple bumps everywhere that are so itchy. I get hives from cats so I know them well. :)

I am looking forward to the steroiRAB to kick in.

The rash is much worse. Still on the pred. Yesterday they gave me Allergra 180mg and hydroxyzine and today it's still getting worse. I could have lived with staying the same. LOL The spots have tripled in amount spread to most of my body and are now swelling up like hives.
