Drove 2003 Honda CRV without coolant reservoir tank cap (not the radiator cap)?

I drove the CRV for >1000 miles and noticed a slight smoke coming out of the hood when i stopped for eating. I stopped the car for some time let the engine cool. I got a 50/50 coolant immly and topped it to almost max level and drove back to home! I had no other options :(

BTW i am worried if the engine is damaged!!!! :(
