OK So today at 12:15 in the afternoon I was in the restroom at work. I took my phone out while sitting on the toilet (CMON DONT act like you dont do it! LOL) and my phone totally slipped out of my hands into the toilet. IT WAS FULLY submerged in the water, I reached down as fast as possible. (nevermind what was in there LOL!) and quickly dried it externally, turned it off, took the cover off and was suprised to find that the inside it was completely DRY! I couldnt believe it. anyway its been about an hour and it is currently charging and hopefully it doesnt mess up on me. I am aware that water damage isnt covered by insurance..DOPE!...Point of the story is>>>DONT DROP your phone in the toiler or a sink, or anywhere that it can get wet. and 2nd point is that WOW THIS PHONE IS DEF BUILT SUPER TIGHT! ps: i know the story is gross lol.

with rice? are you sure dude? ....umm ok//lol but i do have to say that so far no problems BUT i have not tried the 3.5 jack to see if my headphones work..a little nervous??!

And if you have any of those little packs of Silica Gel you sometimes get inside packaging, throw them in there too as close to the openings (physical buttons, headphone socket) on the phone as possible. They're even better than rice.

Leave the phone in the rice in a warm place (airing cupboard) for at least 24 hours. The longer you wait the better your chances. After a week there's no point in waiting any longer, but I'd say 24 hours minimum.

cool Thanks for the all the info guys. its been a day so far and phone works just fine. I keep checking the water sticker inside the battery back to see if it has change color but its still white. .. WHEW! that was a close one. I still cant believe the phone was completely submerged in the water and it didnt mess up! Vibrant kicks ass! (And no more ****ty jokes LOL) I can see one already coming..

I know - that's why I recommended it

A hairdryer isn't a good idea. Heat will melt or soften adhesives used inside the phone. Combined with moisture that's a bad thing for glues. They should never be dried at anything over 30C or 86F. The air itself can blow the water around inside the phone, thus greatly increasing the chance that the water will touch something moisture-critical, or the moisture sensors and invalidate your warranty.

Sorry to but in but I dropped mine into a bowl of water with bleach twice (don't ask!)
Mine was dry inside however, it keeps flashing Samsung S GT-1900 SAMSUNG. I didn't know about keeping it in rice! Anyway, how do I find the water sticker inside the battery back? Please forgive my ignorance, I was previously a BlackBerry user so I apologise but I do have a son that is more technically aware than I am.

I know where one is MEANT to be on mine, but it doesn't have one. If you take the back off the phone and remove the battery. Locate the corner of the battery compartment where the 3 gold connectors are. Between those connectors and the big sticker with the barcode on it where the battery normally sits is a small square. On loads of phones that usually has a white moisture sensitive sticker on it, but on mine there's no sticker. Instead there's an indentation where they're meant to put one.

Anyway, if you have a moisture sticker they're about that kind of size (1/2cm square or rectangular). They're white when dry, but if they have gone red or a red line appears on them then it means they've got wet, and they'll stay like that forever. Removing them or if they've been activated will void your warranty.

Maybe I'm wrong and it's not meant to be located there. But there will usually be a few inside a mobile phone too. There was a big deal made about the iPhone moisture stickers as they're positioned directly next to openings (like the headphone socket) and have been activated purely by the moisture found in someone's back pocket while exercising.
