droping a 2000 dodge ram 1500 sport?

all right i have a 2000 dodge ram sport 1500 2wd and i wanted to drop it but i was not to sure on what to do for the front. like i seen people just cutting the stock coil springs and using the stock spindles. can u really do it? is it easier? or do u have to buy drop spindles? and what is a easier way on dropping the back by taking out a leaf spring or buying one of the drop things that hold the leaf springs please help thanks
