Drop Dead Fred Remake?

I can't believe this is happening. I'm twenty years old,'Drop dead Fred'was one of my favourite films when I was younger!

The fact that Russell Brand has agreed to star in the remake proves he has no shame...Or class.

I shouldn't be as surprised as I am, but I cannot believe that they are going to remake this. The original was one of mine and my sisters favourite films when we were growing up.

So it's gonna be Drop Dead Russell Brand?

Him prancing about being all mockney with mad hair trying to be funny and outrageous?

F*** you Hollywood..... F*** you.

If it literally was, I'd by first in the queue.

His continued fame mystifies me. It can't just be down to squealing fan girls, can it?

The timeframe for ruining classic films is ever decreasing. Why do a trendy remake of a film that is barely twenty years old, ruining it for the people who grew up loving it? Apparently they are threatening to ruin "Beetlejuice" as well.

I don't see how a remake ruins the classic. It is of course a fairly cheap trick on the movie industry's part to keep churning out remakes to the under 20's,but the original is still there, intact.

Hollywood have been arguably ripping people off for the last 30 years. It was sequels throughout the 80's and 90's,and now it's remakes.

Although to be honest,I always felt Drop Dead Fred was a crap movie. One of the worst things Rik Mayall has worked on.

I am a big Rik Mayall fan, but even I am astounded at the amount of people here saying the original was a 'classic'.

Which seems these days to equate to any older film you like. If people here like it, thats great.

But can we stop calling it a classic?. It wasnt. Not in a million years.

I don't think it's such a terrible idea. I loved the film when I was younger and thought it was hilarious, but it's hardly perfect. Good chance to improve on it, and I love Russell, so if they get a good actress it could be ace.

I can't believe Russell Brand is going to play Fred! I like Russell Brand... but as Fred? Eugh.

The film industry need some balls and need to start releasing original films!

(Sorry to bump up an older thread, but I only learned about this last night)
