Hello. So I'm in a bind and want some advice. I will be leaving for Vermont this summer and I need advice I'm between a droid incedible and an iPhone but I need to get the phone before may 20th. I know the incredible comes out April 29 and iPhone 3gs is out already but I would also like to tether my droid or the iPhone to a laptop up there. Does apple have any apps that I can tether for free? Also the thing is if I get the 3gs I would have a 2 year contract and I would want to gt the new iPhone whih drops in June. Could I get the 3gs now and then get the new iPhone in June? At a discount? Thanks for the input.

You can get an iPhone 3G (or even an iPhone 3G) used right now and sign up with that, and use your upgrade credit whenever the next iPhone is released.

AT&T does not officially support tethering on the iPhone, you'd have to be jailbroken to do that.

I wouldn't expect a discount on the next iPhone if you buy a 3GS two months before the new model arrives. Last year, you had to have owned an existing model for several months or more.

It might sound odd coming from an iPhone owner, but I've heard great things about the Incredible; the only issue I have (other than the lack of world roaming due to CDMA) is that Sense UI means OS upgrades will come more slowly than with a Nexus One or Droid.

I have a 3G S now. I'm seriously considering the incredible. Mainly because I'm getting tired of AT&T. I always get bored with other phones and come back to the iPhone, but AT&T service seems to be getting worse. I would love to try te iPhone 4G, but I also wanna try the Sprint EVO 4G. I think I'll get the Incredible for now and sell it and go with the EVO 4G. You can Jailbreak your 3G S to do those things you want, but I'm not a big fan of that. Android is going no where but up. Get an Incredible and test it out and if u don't like it return it.

Easily the Incredible is the better phone in every aspect. I mean besides the fact that its not an Apple product, which Apple fanboy's would probably consider a deal breaker while choosing a phone.

The 4g might be nice, but I still haven't heard much about it. The 3gs is old. Sorry but a phone that doesn't support multitasking? uhhh... is this 2006? Can't remove the battery? Can't tether and use as a modem? Hmm.

Read some specs and reviews about the Incredible, its the phone to get. Also, this means you would be switching to Verizon... so bye bye AT&T. (that's a good thing)

The iPhone was a good phone, but its not up to today's smartphone standards of what's been coming out lately. Anyone who says the iPhone is still the best phone is just another airhead Apple fan.

Hopefully android will put the iphone out of its misery. Thank Google!

First off, I think the Incredible is a great phone. Played with one a Verizon rep friend got a few days before launch, and it's the first phone I've picked up since my 3GS that I've actually been envious of. BUT, and it's a bit but, a lot of the points you raise aren't really valid.

Multitasking is an iffy thing, and most users will never take advatage of it and it's a rather large hit on the battery, which people ALREADY have issues with on smartphones with large touchscreens. Power-users will use it, but that's not who Apple is targeting. They're shooting for the middle 90%, because that's where the money is.

Removeable battery would be nice for sure, but as in their MacBook Pro lines, they've demonstrated that sealed units lead to bigger batteries and more durable construction. While I personally would enjoy the removeable battery, I do understand where Apple is coming from.

As for tethering, well, unless you're avoiding the carrier (and you'd have jailbroken and iPhone at that point anyway) you're looking at spending an extra $30/month for the tethering package. There's a reason why it's sold so infrequently; no one takes advantage of it.

The Incredible has better hardware than the 3GS. And I like the OS more, except for the ease and quality of applications available for the iPhone. However, I am not exactly the target for the iPhone, and there will be a new set of hardware coming out in a few months that should (although maybe not, we'll see!) be comperable with anything on the market currently.
