Droid contacts no longer allow edit of phone# description!

When I got my Motorola Droid on 11-19-09 I was able to go to the pre-installed contacts app, edit a contact, select the type of phone #, change it to other and up would pop a typing box where I could name that phone anything I wanted. That no longer allows me to change anything. Other is just other.

Here is an example:

I have my Mom & Dad as one contact.... They have seven phones between them.... I like having it all on one contact.... Before it had home, mobile, fax, other etc.... When I got this phone I was able to change them to Mom's Cell, Dad's Cell, Home GA, Home FL, etc...

What the H**L happened??? This was a great feature!!! I'm not sure when it stopped working as I don't edit contacts much, just use them.

When editing the contact, when I select the type of number up pops a list of labels (Home, Mobile, Work, Work Fax, Home Fax, Pager, Other, Custom). You need to scroll down to see the Custom option. If I press that it asks me for the label name.

You didn't mention any Custom option, nor scrolling down... so just checking you've tried that.

Yeah - I can delete them as I'm a moderator

But, I'd rather not. There are quite a few posts like this, and it helps other people find the answers in the search.

To be fair, scrolling on those drop down lists isn't very obvious, as the scroll bar is almost invisible, and the reason you need to scroll at all now is because Google added more standard labels recently. Before, you didn't need to scroll at all.
