I have just noticed that a few of my discs witch has digital copy's on them are past there transfer expiration dates..GRRRR.

Example

Rambo.. blu-ray.. digital copy expires 27 may 2009

Just emailed Lionsgate Entertainment and a few other studio's to see if the serial number's can be reactivated.

Just why do studio's insist on transfer expiration dates...The wmv files are drm
protected does this not limit what you can play it on?.

Is this the digital copy disc that comes with DVRAB or whatever now? even though you have the original dvd/blu ray disc as well... for example the Tropic Thunder - 2 disc edition came with a digital copy disc.

Yes...studio's release a second disc with some movies wich contain a digital copy on which you need a serial to access the film.

just been emailing back and forth with Lionsgate usa trying to sort out my serial number problem.

Bloody drm protection....sux big time

The irony being that illegally downloaded files allow you to do whatever you like with them.

Hell, they even allow you to watch them.

The sooner companies stop screwing over genuine customers the better. Each time I'm told "you wouldn't steal a car" with that annoying music intro on the DVD I just bought (who are they really aiming the advert at?), it makes me more inclined to illegally download in future.

Not being rude here, but what is the point in it when you have the original dvd to play on your dvd player or computer/laptop? is it for people who must watch it on such a tiny screen on something like an ipod? or can save it onto a laptop and watch it anywhere without taking the dvRAB with you?

I don't have a standalone Blu Ray player - only a drive in my PC, I watch everything through my PC. I have a standalone DVD player, but I rarely use it, my speakers and larger screen are linked up to my PC.

The moment you set up a media centre, you'd understand. Its so much more convenient to have all your films and tv shows stored on a large hard disk and nicely indexed for you to flick through. Also, its not hard to hook up large LCD or plasma displays to PCs, instead of watching on piddly 15" monitors!

As it happens, i don't care about DRM infested digital copies anyway. You can easily download free software that will losslessly rip DVRAB and Blu-Rays to your PC. So why bother with some crippled copy?
