Dreamworks Working On Lidsville Adaptation

So, just how many animated projects has dreamworks got going now? It seems like we get a new anouncement almost every month. I know we can't judge the movies until they actually come out, but it seems to me like they're going for a "quantity over quality" approach. :shrug:
 
For now, all I have to say about this is "wait and see", as I'd prefer to see the CGI versions of the characters and how the film will handle the human characters (especially Hoodoo, as it will be tough to top Charles Nelson Reilly's performance of that character) before I pass judgment.
 
One has to wonder why, of all of the Krofft shows, that Dreamworks decided to go with Lidsville rather than H.R. Pufenstuf. Pufenstuf was the more memorable series, and lasted longer on the airwaves. It would be like if a major movie studio wanted to make a CGI movie based on a Hanna-Barbera property and they went with The Roman Holidays rather than The Flintstones.
 
My best guess is that H. R. Pufnstuf is being saved for a live-action feature.

Of course, the problem with Land of the Lost is that they turned a children's show with a serious tone into a comedy filled with adult humor. With Lidsville being CGI (and more likely targetted towards younger audiences), it will be more likely that the film version will keep the original tone of the TV series.

BTW, anyone else feel that Billie Hayes and Butch Patrick should have voice cameos in the CGI version?
 
I would say The Road to El Dorado, but that only had one genuine musical number(its tough to be a god) while the other songs were background music by elton john.
With that said, i am pretty interested in them doing a musical with Alan Menkens songwriting talents.
 
That's definitely a step in the right direction, as the original Lidsville would have at least one musical number per show, with Charles Fox, one of the best writers of 1970's TV themes, serving as a musical director.
