Dreamworks best?

no one loves me

Pretty self explanatory, despite the issues some have with the studios and its films, which ones were your favorite, or you think is the best pick of the litter and why?

For me, I'm taking it back to The Prince of Egypt. Whether you're religious or not you can appreciate this movie for its beauty, storytelling, and amazing soundtrack. I know a lot of people who didn't even know Dreamworks was behind it, and thought of it as a Disney film. I was fighting goosebumps from the first two minutes, and very few animated films outside of Disney and Studio Ghibli are able to give me that overwhelming feeling of emotion. You can just tell so much heart was put into this, and I have yet to see a Dreamworks film that can touch it. (Note: I haven't seen How to Train Your Dragon, but I still don't think it could top POE as my Dreamworks fav)

Prince of Egypt and the prequel Joseph were good for a kids versions of those stories.

Kung Fu Panda so far has been my fave.

Notable mentions:

Over the Hedge
Road to El Dorado
Sinbad

Antz is probably their best movie overall. Great, witty screenplay, excellent voice work, and a tone that's adult without being abrasive.

Road to El Dorado: Crisp animation, although a cartoon, it shed peoples ignorant "kiddie" views of animation through its mature story/characters.

Shrek: Made me cry. I could relate to shrek. Gave Disney a swift kick and joked on Disneys' fairytale stories. And...smashmouth was an awesome band.:p

Lastly Over the Hedge: great cast. awesome comedy. Anthromorphic animals rock.

The Road to El Dorado

The songs by Elton John and Tim Rice aren't quite as memorable as their work on The Lion King, but every other aspect is, to me, beyond reproach: the lush 2D animation, the music score by Hans Zimmer and John Powell, the plotting, the byplay between Tulio and Miguel that never fails to crack me up. Just wonderful.

Over the Hedge is my all time favorite Dreamworks movie (and one of my all time favorites overall, but it's not on the absolute top).

Yes, I won't deny it has its flaws. For example, they should have been more subtle with the family message, there are a few cliches (but what story doesn't?) the porcupine family did...absolutely nothing, and what was up with Avril Lavigne

However, the flaws are balanced very well by its strengths. The animation is gorgeous, the acting was really great (even Lavigne!) , the characters have some nice quirks to them that keep them from being 100% generic, and I grew to really like the animals because of that - despite their flaws, you still like them. There's even some great character development for them. Also, while there are pop culture jokes, they don't slow down the story or date it.

(I'm really happy that Dreamworks let the movie stay a one-shot and not milk the hell out of it for some quick bucks. *cough* Shrek *cough*)

Speaking of Shrek, the original is my 2nd favorite Dreamworks flick. I'd list reasons, but I think someone else will do that for me at some point or another:p

My favorite traditional animated Dreamworks movie is The Road to El Dorado, for reasons already stated.

My 3 favorite Dreamworks movies are the first Shrek, How To Train Your Dragon, and my absolute favorite, Spirit: Stallion Of The Cimarron. That movie definately has some flaws, like Matt Damon's narration and there are some scenes where the horses act a little too "cartoony." The story is also very simple, but personally, I think that works in its advantage. There are very few movies that have made me feel so emotional, particurally the "Sound The Bugle" sequence and the very ending. The movie also has a more personal meaning to me. The pure emotion of this movie makes me love it, and that's why it's my favorite Dreamworks movie.

I will say How to Train Your Dragon. It had great animation, told a good story, and had great characters. Some honorable mentions are Spirit: Stallion of the Cimmarron, Kung Fu Panda, the first Shrek (although it's been a while), and Megamind.
