not really a specific answer to your question, but if you are looking to get into a BFA program and are looking to improve your skills, you should draw from life or reality - in other words, set up a real physical still-life and draw it, or go outside and sit and draw your house, or draw people sitting in front of you - as opposed to copying a picture or making something up from your imagination.
The ability to translate real, 3D space into a 2D image is really key - issues of light, shadow, depth, dimension, composition are all decisions you'll have to make, and it comes down to enhancing your ability to see.
