downloading apps on the motorola cliq?

a couple days ago, i got the motorola cliq. its an AWESOME phone, but im having trouble with downloading the apps. when i hit install, it says "starting download" and it says that for almost an hour..so i cancel the download and try again, and it keeps doing that...what shoud i do? is this normal?
