Down sides to owning a apple computer?

My dell laptop is done for. I've been shopping around and came across a mac book pro. It looks cool super light, but my friends have told that sometimes you can do certain things with apple laptops because not everyone uses or accepts apples operating system or platform. Can someone tell me the positives and more importantly the negatives of owning a macbook.
 
I haven't heard of any downsides to owning an apple computer, but one thing that i read very recently was that you for sure you can run MS windows on an Apple, just like if you were you using a PC.

It was cool to find out that there are programs for that.
