I have two adore able twin girls who just turned four. They are sweet as can be, but are in that testing limits stage and they have two very different personalities. They have discovered the bathtub and learned how it works and they like to go in and run water in a cup and make a mess. Well they did that this evening, which they know is a major no no. I caught them in the act before too big a mess was made, and they both got a stern talking to and put in the corner. Jana is very passive and she will stay in timeout and usually goes without a fight, Jenna however is the troublemaker of the two. She admitted she talked Jana into doing it and she refused to stay in timeout and even stuck her tongue out at me. Jana was trying to tell her to just stay in timeout and I warned her but she refused. So it ended up I had to give her some persuasion with a few swats on the bottom to stay in timeout. They are usually partners in crime so they get punished the same. Jenna did not think it was fair she was spanked and put in timeout when Jana only got timeout, I had to explain it for 20 minutes before she got it.
Do you think its ok to discipline differently based on personalities? I do not want to be unfair, but a spanking works better right now for Jenna than timeout and Jana is the exact opposite even though they are twins
